Custodian - Permanent Full-Time

The Custodian will ensure a clean, safe environment by providing routine daily cleaning of the administration offices and community hall. The Custodian also undertakes major annual seasonal and spring cleaning activities. Is responsible to maintain grounds, cut grass, remove garbage and unsafe materials. Arranges for general repairs and maintenance.

The applicant is physically capable of carrying out the duties of the position which will require the raising and lowering of the flags; and the moving of equipment, supplies, furniture, file boxes and other items. Is able and willing to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls.

The successful candidate must ensure confidentiality and facility security at all times.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

· Grade 12 graduate and/or a minimum of three years related work experience

· Work Safe Certification, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS)

· Valid Class 5 Drivers License would be an asset

· Satisfactory Criminal Records Check

Job Opportunity Home Support Worker

The Haida Health Centre is seeking a full time, self-motivated individual to work as a Home Support Worker in Old Massett. 

Purpose of Position:

The Home Care Worker provides personal care, home management, short-term respite assistance and support to clients based on the assessed need.  The goal is to promote the client’s ability to live independently in the home setting.  

Qualifications:

Home Support/Resident Care Aide Certificate

Valid First Aid Certificate

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and

Computer skills

Knowledge and understanding of traditional Haida culture and values,  health promotion and prevention, effective verbal and written skills, computer skills, the ability to work in difficult situations and demonstrate problem solving, and demonstrate good judgment, ability to work under pressure, work with team and work individually
